GPOnline today reports that a new scheme in Worcestershire which sees GPs working in hours with 999 teams has cut hospital admissions by a whopping 75%, saving the trust thousands of pounds.
The scheme runs in partnership with three CGGs and aims to treat patients in their own homes, saving £2000 per admission.
This has seen an increase to 86% from 37% of patients receiving this type of care.
GPs taking part are paid locum rates which pays for itself with a single saved admission to hospital per day and should be a "cost-neutral" exercise.
