NHS to replace its Oracle Spine in favour of open source Riak datastore, Redis, Nginx, Tornado, and RabbitMQ
The UK government's quest to get public services to use more open source technologies seems to be taking hold, judging by the revamp of the NHS's very large Spine service.
Technical problems with a new service for calculating payments for GP practices mean practices have to manually enter data for some enhanced services until next April.

TPP yesterday announced that their APP for SystmOnline is now available now in the iTunes store. It was approved by Apple and is now available for download.

In what will surely be one of the most welcome updates to SystmOne in recent times, TPP have finally made their appointments ledger drag and drop.
This has long been one of the most requested features, and in our experience, one of the most obvious to have, and now it's here.
Go on and try it! Log in and have some fun!

GPs will have to be available 24/7 to offer ‘decision support’ in order to prevent patients from being admitted to hospital under a plan to radically reform the urgent care system published by NHS England today.
The move is proposed as part of a package of suggested measures to improve the care of patients seven days a week, including holding GP telephone consultations out-of-hours’ and a guarantee that patients can have ‘same-day access’ to GPs who are ‘integrated with their GP practice’.
